This is hilarious:
Remember how at Pattiquest's BBQ we pretty much decided I was NOT a hipster? Well, that's because I'm just so good at it we didn't REALIZE I was one... What Kind of Hipster Are You? ![]() You are the Low-Fidelity All-Star. You were born with your cool, and it's totally natural. You run the gamut from Hipster Supreme (only they can ingest as much coffee as you) to the geeky hipster (Mario Kart, anyone?). Since everyone else was taking the quiz...
I just fell down my steps. Oy. What made the whole thing particularly special was that my roommate and her boyfriend were sitting in the living room at the time, so they saw the whole thing, as I slid from upstairs into their view. Also, I grabbed onto the railing, with both hands, as I fell, so it was sort like the top half of me stayed on the first couple steps, while the bottom half of me kept going for 3 or 4 more. Very nice. The result is that I cut up my hands, but otherwise I think I'm unharmed. Granted, tomorrow I will probably have a different opinion, and a lovely bruise or two.
Are the hippies wearing "Bowling Mom" shirts?!? If so, that is awesomeish (although, I totally did that already, like 2 Halloweens ago... I'm such a trendsetter.)
So, I think you all know the drill by now, but pick 6 adjectives that describe me, please:
Maybe? Sort of?
I finally took this test! I was disappointed with the "famous people" graph though, because I was aligned with John Kerry and not the Pope. Give me the Pope over John Kerry any day.
I feel like I should pass along this info on the off chance that one of you cares...
Wow, it has been awhile since I posted. I don't even really have much to write, I just was tired of seeing the same entry at the top of my journal. Anyway, things have been crazy at work, as usual, and they are back to blocking I have yet to be as inspired as In the spirit of New Year's, I think that's my resolution - get into grad school. Well, that and join Netflix, which I finally accomplished, after talking about it for the past 6 months. I've never really watched a lot of movies, so I'm going to make an effort to sort of catch up on classic movies that everyone else in the world has seen. So, if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know! Unfortunately, Netflix also has an extensive TV on DVD collection, so my queue is currently filled with "Freaks and Geeks" and Buffy, both of which I've always wanted to watch. But eventually I'll get to the movies... Hmm. This sort of clarifies the lack of motivation when it comes to studying, doesn't it? 2 comments | post a comment

Want to see my newest cousin?? Please visit I am on vacation today!! I don't think I've ever taken a vacation day where I was actually at home; it's kind of exciting. I had 2 days left that I have to use by the end of the year, and I have a ton of things to do around the house, so here I am. I'll be writing Christmas cards today, and hopefully doing some Christmas shopping as well. And maybe actually posting on lj, since I'm pretty sure no one is monitoring my internet usage at home. Oh, and I should be working on that accounting self-study that I need to get done ASAP as well. I should probably schedule another phone call from
I was reading this essay about office life on Tomato Nation - I think we can all particularly relate to the last paragraph on the first page....
This is crazy:
So, what do you guys know about mold in basements?? How worried do I have to be?
So, I survived my trip to the World's Longest Yard Sale (more details to follow), and, after traveling 2200 miles in 6 days, I am thrilled NOT to be in a car. However, we drove through 10 states during the trip (PA, DE, MD, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia - and DC), which is 1/5 of the country (or "10%!" as my friend Shannon announced, which... not so much.) As we were discussing this during the long drive home yesterday, I remembered this map that pattiquest had posted last year - so this morning, I found it and updated it:
As I was getting into the elevator today, I couldn't help but notice that the woman in the elevator with me was wearing a t-shirt with beaded lady bugs and butterflies all over it. Very cute, but very Quacker Factory. (I originally typed "Quaker Factory", which would be a completely different line of clothing.) This same woman also has a shirt and matching pants with daisies embroidered in the center of the shirt and along the cuffs of the pants. Actually, she has the same outfit in both turquoise and pink.
I can't believe I forgot to share this sooner, but when I was in Germany last week, the only station that I got in English was MTV, so I watched that quite frequently. One of the hit songs right now is this country-esque cover of "Hot in Herre". For the first 2 weeks, I would switch the channel when the video came on, because it's this awful cartoon-ish, (maybe) parody of cowboys, very "Dukes of Hazzard". And they're called "Bosshoss", and I assumed it was some German country song, and I wasn't interested. Then I finally listened to it, and it is awesomish. Check out the other songs on their CD...
I just read this on cnn.com... http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/07/28/h
I'm not sure how many of you I've mentioned this to, but a good friend of mine recently discovered that she carries the gene for Huntington's Disease. Huntington's Disease is a degenerative brain disorder for which there is currently no cure. You can read about it here... (I think - if the link worked, otherwise, it's here... http://www.hdsa.org/site/PageServer?page Anyway, because organizing benefits is what she does best (she's organized them for various other causes before, just because she wanted to support them), she has planned a Hula Hoop-a-thon to benefit Huntington's Disease Research, which will be held Saturday, August 27th from 7 PM -10 PM, at the Terrence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center in NYC. (Basically, I'm thinking it will be a fun, pretty low-key party, to raise money for a good cause.) If anyone is interested in attending with me, and wants further details, please let me know. Additionally, she'll be raffling off prizes from various donors for $5 - if anyone is interested buying some, I can get the details on what exactly she's raffling off. I hate asking people for money like this, but it's a very worthwhile cause, and one people generally don't know about. So if you happen to have $5 that you were wondering what to do with anyway, let me know! :-) 1 comment | post a comment |
